Update Post: Major Enhancements to Gameplay and Visuals

We’re excited to announce a series of updates that significantly enhance both the gameplay and visual experience in DOGE Smash TV! These changes are designed to make the game more engaging, intuitive, and visually appealing. Here’s a rundown of everything we’ve accomplished tonight:

1. Bullet Penetration for Player Weapons

  • What Changed: Bullets from the player’s weapons (except rockets) now penetrate multiple enemies until they reach the end of their range, rather than stopping after hitting one enemy.
  • Why It Matters: This makes your attacks more effective against groups of enemies, adding a new layer of strategy to combat.

2. Flashing Weapon Icons

  • What Changed: Weapon drop icons now flash in the last 2 seconds before they disappear.
  • Why It Matters: This visual cue alerts players to pick up weapon drops quickly, ensuring you don’t miss out on valuable upgrades.

3. Yellow Glow for Weapon Icons

  • What Changed: All weapon drop icons now have a yellow glow effect.
  • Why It Matters: The glow makes weapon drops stand out more on the screen, helping players spot them easily during intense gameplay.

4. Area of Effect (AoE) for Rocket Launcher

  • What Changed: Rockets now explode on impact with enemies or the boss, damaging everything within a small radius.
  • Why It Matters: This turns the rocket launcher into a powerful crowd-control weapon, perfect for taking out groups of enemies or dealing extra damage to the boss.

5. Rocket Bullet Rotation

  • What Changed: The rocket sprite now rotates to face its direction of movement, with the front (left side of the image) pointing forward.
  • Why It Matters: This makes the rocket’s trajectory more intuitive and visually consistent, enhancing the overall game feel.

6. Red Motion Trail for Rockets

  • What Changed: Rockets now leave a subtle red particle trail as they move.
  • Why It Matters: The trail not only looks cool but also helps players track the rocket’s path more easily.

7. Revamped Weapon Drop System

  • What Changed: The dropWeapon function now uses a configurable structure for drop rates based on enemy types, ensuring each enemy drops at most one weapon.
  • Why It Matters: This adds more flexibility to balancing weapon drops and ensures a fairer distribution of weapons throughout the game.
